Studying Multimedia in Prague
The Institute of Intermedia is pleased to announce
the first Prague Multimedia Summer School. The
courses will be in English and will mainly take place
in the IIM art lab, which is a shared workplace of
the Academy of Performing Arts and the Czech
Technical University in Prague.
The Prague Multimedia Summer School provides students and practitioners with modern approaches to the design and presentation of interactive artistic projects. The participants will learn how to work with a performance space, how to use light design systems and project technologies. They will gain basic knowledge of sound design, and will learn how to build a simple sound synthesizer or a light controller and be able to implement their own multimedia or scenography project. This intensive workshop will give students an insight into the implementation of technical tools into theatre and stage design projects. The lecturers will introduce some of the successful collaborative projects that they have participated in, and the participants will learn about state-of-the art approaches used in setting up interactive art projects and performances.
This interdisciplinary course welcomes students with diverse interests in technology and arts to explore possibilities of implementing technical tools into interactive performances and stage design projects. There is no specific technical knowledge required.
Experience the Multimedia Summer School
The main purpose of this educational programme is to encourage interdisciplinary dialogue and to create an international platform for students interested in multimedia.
University students can be awarded 4 ECTS credits for the coursework. We point out that students wanting to obtain credits should negotiate with their home university about recognition before the summer school takes place. The courses can also benefit professionals who are looking to diversify their skills.
This year’s summer school features an intensive two-week course. Students will also participate in a weekend field trip to a unique Baroque theatre in Český Krumlov with the IIM staff, in order to experience the cultural and historical sites of the Czech Republic.
